USC Trojans’ Dillon Baxter uncertain against Oregon State Beavers
University of Southern California Trojans running back Dillon Baxter’s status against the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday 20 November is still uncertain after the youngster was hospitalized on Thursday.
Baxter was taken to hospital with an unspecified illness and dehydration, said Trojans head coach Lane Kiffin, who stated that the youngster will travel with the team to Oregon State, but maintains that his status is still uncertain.
Baxter showed up at Trojans practice on Thursday, but did not seem to be in full health and did not participate in any of the team drills.
“He came in very ill today and we had him checked out and he wasn’t able to practice,” said Kiffin. “We’ll keep working with him through tonight and tomorrow morning.”
Baxter has been out of the line-up sporadically throughout the season, as the freshman missed the club’s first game against the Hawaii Warriors on 2 September due to suspension and then missed the 16 October game against the California Golden Bears because
of a turf toe injury.
The Trojans have put together a strong season in 2010 sitting third in the Pac-10 at 7-3 with a 4-3 record against conference opponents. However, even though the team has achieved the necessary six games needed to become bowl eligible they will not be able
to participate in any bowl games, as they have been barred from all bowl and championship match-ups by the NCAA after violating league rules.
Originally what was thought to be a poor season for the Trojans has turned out to a be a rather successful one, as the club still has three games left, and judging by their opponents, should be able to finish the season with 10 wins.
The Trojans will travel to Reser Stadium to take on the Beavers on Saturday 20 November.
