Question:

USFS Testing?

I am taking my Pre- Preliminary Freestyle tomorrow, and I am totally ready for it. I switched coaches a few months ago, and the coach I had before (With whom i took the Pre-Pre Moves) NEVER told me about Skating attire etiquette.

my coach now says its "very important". I am wearing a black, longsleeve turtle neck under a white zip up sweater with black gloves, black mesh skirt and neutral tights.

Is this ok to wear? Does the length of the skirt, shirt, type of tights, etc. affect if you pass your test? Why is the attire so important?

  1. I find that to be pretty informal (but since I skate under the mexican system, things are different than the US). When I did my tests I always wore a full skating outfit with makeup and everything. Everyone here wears full competition attire in tests.

Don't wear something like sweatpants at a test, haha, judges won't take you seriously if you do that.

  2. Well theyr'e not going to fail you if you do all the elements correctly, It's just important to look smart and not look slopppy like you are there for training. maybe put your hair up in a bun or a single french braid. but your outfit sounds fine. Relax and have fun.

    Good luck

  3. Yes thats fine! Good luck with your test and have fun!

  4. By looking neat and appropriately dressed, it shows the judges that you respect them.  It makes a good impression and they will remember you for it.

Remember also to have your hair neatly pulled back and polish your skates if you are not wearing over the boot tights.
