  1. Basically, you would be authorized to wear only what you've earned. With that said, your DD-Form 214 would be a great start to assist you along the way. If you do not have a copy of this form, you can obtain one from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Hopefully, your 214 accurately states all of your accomplishments.

  2. Go to the HQMC site and they will haave an updated list of unit citations posted.  Look for the former Marine section and it is usually found there.  The questions about why not use your DD214 is simply put the DD214 does not list things that in process or have nbeen approved yet.  Since retiring I have had three persoanl awards come through, they were pending approval and were not back in time for my retirement and I wasn't waiting, and I believe the count is up to four unit awards with some of the changes done over the last few years and redefining stuff.  At the same area is a form to request a listing of current medals and ribbons you rate to wear since HQMC does update records but does not re-issue DD214's unless requested or it is done through the BCNR.  Select Manpower and Reserve under Career,  then Veteran marine then awards and it will take you easily from there.

  3. Nothing, the only one that MAY have pertained is the Cold War Victory Medal, but it was downgraded to a Certificate, no Medal.

If you didn't earn it, you don't Rate it.

But, I'm curious... how often do you wear your Medals now?
