USMC: Did anyone have a similar experience?

In boot camp during first phase, my older brother mailed me a Playboy with a note on the cover saying, "Hey Drill instructors! My brother says you ain't sh**!" I paid for each and every photo in the entire mag. Oh yeah, I laugh about it now, but it wasn't so funny at the time. I wanted to kill him!

My cousin (also Marine) sent a letter to me while in Boot Camp, addressed to my name but with the rank of Colonel, I got smoked!

While stationed in france,my buddy would get mail from his dad with a return address in care of col. downer. Everone in the wing thought his dad was a military bird colonel.His never told them any different.He told me his dad was a auctioneer, who holds the title of colonel.

But no, my family was Military - they knew better even if I was going into the MARINES and not (brrrrrrrrrrr) A-R-M-Y as tradition dictated.

Nope. No one did that on me when I went through bootcamp at MCRD San Diego. There was recruit (now Marine) who had a print out copy of a naked p**n star in his mail from his friend. None of the Drill Instructors or scribes noticed  that during mail call since it was a printer paper. Another recruit (now Marine) had "GO ARMY" written in the back of his envelope by his uncle who was a former soldier in the US Army.

I had a recruit in boot camp with me that got a package with cookies. The drill instructors made him eat the whole thing then thrashed him til he threw it up!
