  1. Um no. Just because you're joining doesn't mean your going straight to Iraq. There is roughly 9000 marines deployed right now. Once your out of boot camp you can bring some of it especially your car after a certain amount of time.

  2. Just leave everything at your parent's house.

  3. After you graduate boot camp and MCT and MOS school you are entitled to a free TMO from your home of record. That means the military will move your personal belongings for free to your Permanent station. As for the car, save it to drive later, especially if it is paid off. Don't waste money on things you may not really need, save it for some fun.

  4. Or you could put your stuff in storage.  Either way, good luck.

  5. When you get out of Boot and in your MOS training you might be able to have your car and if you don't deploy fast and go to a main land duty station you might want your car, other stuff you can give away. Thank you for your service.

  6. Keep your vehicle and donate miscellaneous household items.

You're going to have plenty of time and money to replace those items if and when you need them.  Putting your old c**p in storage to throw away later isn't practical.

  7. Naw, you will be able to decide if you wanna ship stuff later. Store it away somewhere.

  8. You will most likely want to keep your car.  You will be able to have it once you get stationed somewhere.  As for your household stuff, I would donate if you don't have somewhere to store it.  When you live in the barracks, you don't really have much room.  The barracks are like a college dorm rooms with not much space.  You will want a small frig, tv, computer, and your clothes.  You room will be cluttered if you try to fit much more stuff than that.

  9. Keep your car!! You'll need it when you get stationed at a permanent base. Otherwise you'll be leaching off others to drive you everywhere. When you're able to take leave after youre stationed, fly home, then drive back. TMO will move your things for you But remember Barracks room are very small.. so only keep what you'll NEED. Everything else, just leave at your parents place and save it for when you rate BAH(basic housing allowance) and get your own place, that wont happen untill you get married, or are a Sgt. At least thats how it is at my husbands base, You cant even live with a friend out intown unless you're getting BAH. They got really strict about that. Easier to keep track of the guys.

Just save everything that you can (or want) at your parents untill you get a permanent duty station :)

    Good luck!!!! :):)

Edit: Well since you have space issues.. I say, sell what you can, the extra money wont hurt you, whatever you cant sell, donate.

Also, depending on who you're rooming with at the Barracks, that guy might already have everything for the room youd need such as a mini fridge, tv, computer, microwave, etc. Just have your parents hold on to everything till u get stationed, or have a friend hold onto it and wait to see what all you have or dont have at the barracks. Then just tell ur parents or friends to sell it or donate it or keep it what they want. ect...

  10. no, keep your stuff because your not going to be in the USMC forever.
