Question:

USPS Parcel Post?

I currently bought something from a guy on eBay for my car. He lives about 60-80 miles away from me (same state, different location). He sent my package via Parcel Post to my house. I have heard it takes about 2-9 days for a package to arrive via Parcel Post; however, since we live in the same state about an hour away, how long do you think it will be until it arrives? He shipped it early this morning (8 am - July 22, Tuesday), so what day do you think it'll arrive? Just would like some answers to expect so my car can be back on the road. Thanks

  1. It all depends on how the mail flows in your area.  I can mail something to someone's house I can see, and that package would travel almost 200 miles to get there.

I'd say count on 9 days and then be pleasantly surprised if it comes sooner.

  2. There's really no telling, I'm afraid.

When our kids were in college, they were the same distance from home, pretty much, one in the same state, one in another state. I'd mail a package to each of them, and the out of state one would arrive after 3 days (going about 350 miles), while the instate one always seemed to take about five days (going a few less miles).

Edit: Did you happen to get a tracking number from the seller? If so, you can watch your package's progress.

I'd say you're likely to have it by Friday.

  3. 2-9 days is only an estimate. Based on the USPS website and the info available for parcel post, it looks like its not even trackable. I think that service becomes available at postal priority, not parcel post. If you are lucky, you will have it by 2-9 days provided it doesn't get lost in the mail, but there's really no way to know.
