USPS Question Kind of tape and weighing

Hi,

1. Do i have to use the clear tape to tape up a package i'm going to ship or can i just use some 2 inch grey scotch tape.

2. Can i just weight the package at home or does the postal office have to weigh it.

  1. The kind of tape you use really doesn't matter as long as it does the job and you have the address clearly indicated.  The post office usually has to weigh the package, but I think you can print your mailing sticker from on line if you know the weight closely enough.


  2. Are you talking about the packing tape with the thread reinforced? Then definitely no. Always use clear packaging tape on packages, it just sticks a lot better. Postal scales are very sensitive, so unless you have a scale for weighing shipping packages (pounds and ounces) I would use the postal scale.
