Question:

USPS package was not delivered what to do?

I ordered a textbook from Amazon a few days ago, and I was given a tracking number by the seller. Well today I check up on the status of the package, and it says it was delivered today at 1:11 pm. Well it's nowhere to be found.

Has anyone else been in this situation? What exactly is the procedure here? Getting help from the USPS website is utterly hopeless, I've sent them an email, but it can take 1-2 business days for them to get back to me, and I need this book by tomorrow. Should I contact the seller as well? Should I contact Amazon?

Basically any help at all would be appreciated.

  1. Notify Amazon that it was not delivered to you.  They can put a tracer on it and find out where it was delivered to.  I get mail all the time that isn't mine.

  2. First thing call or go to "your" post office or the one that delivered it, speak to the postmaster or whoever is covering if he/she is out, that's your best chance of finding the carrier that delivered it and hope he/she by some chance remembers it, they have set routes

If it was delivered to another house it may get kicked back the office too, if the receiver is honest....

"tracers" are sorta old wives tales, how do you "trace" something when you don't know where it is or where it disappeared......

The "tracking" number is not a tracking number at all, it is only a "delivery confirmation" number, the carrier scans it as he/she is delevering it, there is no address information put in as it is scanned at delivery, so if the carrier is at the wrong house it simply says delivered...you can only hope at the right house
