  1. Yes, it's actually very common. Does she have back pain in her lower back as well? She may have an infection in her kidneys. I've gotten many UTI's and infections in my kidneys as a child. I haven't drunken soda since i was eight because of how harsh the caffeine is on my kidneys. It swells them up and causes great pain in my back. Well in to adulthood this problem still follows me. UTI's are caused by any bacteria that enters down in to your bladder regardless of age. (it's just so much more common for adults because we have s*x and lets face it... s*x is dirty) She will need to see her pediatrician as soon as possible so they can start her on the correct antibiotics. There are over the counter UTI test kits you can buy at the pharmacy. Usually if the urine appears very cloudy she has an infection. Tylenol will do for now until she can see the doctor.

  2. sounds like she might.  get her to a Dr. as soon as you can. my daughter had a UTI when she was about that age and the infection went into her blood stream and it got pretty dangerous.  infection is never something to mess around with so get her checked out and it a pretty easy fix when caught in time.

does she take bubble baths alot?  my Dr. told me that it is very common for younguns to get infections alot easier if they are taking bubble baths.

  3. Sounds like she does have one. I would get her to the doctor. That is how I found out I had my UTI was with those symptoms.

My son who was 13 months at the time had a fever, and the doctors checked to see if it was an ear thing. Then when that came out fine they checked to see if he was teething some more, and that was not it. They checked lots of other things, and finally decided to check his urine. Sure enough he had a UTI.

That is how we knew since he was too small to really tell us the symptoms. The doctor did say that as he gets older if he says:

    - It burns to pee.

    - It feels like I am peeing sand/ rice     ??? Never heard that one myself.

    - Has the feeling of having to pee a lot.

    - Feels like he has to pee a big river, but only pees a few drops.

    then he has a UTI.

  4. It's actually not too uncommon. They will give you some antibiotics for her, and she will feel better quickly.

  5. My daughter has had a few. Being a girl is hard. Avoid putting bubbles in her bath. Keep the washing until the end of the bath, wash her, and get her right out. Make sure the bathtub is clean. She will need to go to the doctor for some antibiotics. If left untreated she will more than likely become very sick. My daughter had a UTI when she was 5 and was in the urgent care 3 days in a row before they finally tested her urine for a UTI. The poor girl had a high fever for a week, hit 104.6 even after alternating Tylenol and Motrin for days. A UTI untreated can spread to the kidneys, which is dangerous.

  6. My daughter had one when she was 3....it was awful for her...Take her to the doctor...her's was 20 something years ago, I can only imagine the meds they have for them now...

  7. My youngest son had it at 2 months old. It was horrible for him and me because I didn't know what was going on. He had a bad fever and when the doctor took the tests that's when we found out.

Take your daughter to the doctor's he/she will give some medicine. In the meantime give her plenty water, (flavored is easier for her to drink she will get bored with water). Also give her watermelon this makes her get some extra fluid in her without her realizing it. She needs to get a lot of fluids so that she can pass the urine better. It hurts more if she is only urinating small amounts. I hope she feels better soon. UTI's are horrible no matter what age.
