As a holiday destination, where would you get the strongest UV rays?

I'm talking around Europe and Spanish Islands and that.

I've checked that some countries are far hotter but have fewer UV rays.

Like for example, Canary Islands has UV rays of 10 but it's only around 25c there, and North Africa has UV rays of around 8 but it's around 35c there.

So what holiday destinations are good for tanning?

  1. If you want the strongest UV with the coolest air temperature, you must find a destination that is near the sea because this is where the sea will keep the heat to build up during daytime.

The Canary islands is a good choice. They are in the trade winds and current. The wind blows mostly from the north east, bringing cool air from the sea. The sea water is also coming from the north, all the way from the north of Biscay, and since the islands are most of the time under the Azores high pressure, you rarely see rain. But then, you should stay on the south side of the islands of Gran Canaria or Tenerife because at the north, the northerly air rises above the vulcanic mountains and condense in clouds. In any case, most of the tourist industry on the Canary islands are on the south beaches.

Since the islands are near the tropic of Cancer, during June and July, you have the sun nearly at the zenith, giving the most UV possible.

    Have a nice holiday!
