Uber Cup Finals 2012: Fabienne Deprez tames Hsuan Yu Wendy Chen in Women’s Singles contest
Germany’s Fabienne Deprez proved her mettle when she trounced Australia’s Hsuan Yu Wendy Chen in a Women’s Singles encounter at the Uber Cup Finals 2012 at Wuhan, China, on Monday, May 21.
The in-form German showed her impressive craft and overpowered Hsuan Yu in a superb fashion without losing any game in the match.
Deprez was in her prime form while playing against the Australian opponent and she remained successful in finishing off the contest in two games while taking just 25 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Hsuan Yu put up good show by playing competitive badminton but failed to impress the crowd in concluding points and lost the match without securing any set.
In the first game, both ladies got a thrilling start when they matched the speed of rallies and remained neck-to-neck at the initial stage of the game.
The German tried to take lead by playing with aggression but failed to destroy the impressive defence of her Australian rival.
Both shuttlers failed to take lead until the mid-game interval in opening set.
After one-minute the break, they remained focused and continued playing in the similar fashion until the score reached at 15-15 when Deprez took over the control from her opponent and managed to grab the game with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second set, it was Hsuan who took a wonderful lead at the initial stage by reaching at 9-4.
However, the Australian could not maintain her power play as her German rival also geared up her speed and levelled the score at 9-9.
Until the mid-game break, Deprez was ahead on the board by reaching at 11-9.
After the 60-second interval, Deprez continued putting up thrilling show of attacking game and also remained ahead on the score board while remaining aggressive in the court.
The in-form German did not commit mistakes at the concluding stage in second set and eventually managed to win it with a superb 21-17 score on the board.
Deprez remained successful in beating her Australian opponent in straight games with a reasonable margin of 21-18 and 21-17.
