Uber Cup Finals 2012: Porntip Buranaprasertsuk beats Karina Jorgensen in quarter-final battle
Thailand’s experienced shuttler Porntip Buranaprasertsuk proved her elevated craft in the court when she defeated Denmark’s Karina Jorgensen at the quarter-final of Uber Cup Finals in China, on Wednesday, May 23.
Porntip, who has been placed at number 17 in Women’s Singles world rankings, showed her tremendous skills and managed to overpower her lower ranked Danish challenger in a hard-fought battle of 48 minutes.
The higher ranked Thai shuttler employed all of her skills and managed to win the battle in rubber games with a respectable score on the board.
On the other hand, Karina also put up superb show of quality badminton and matched the pace of her higher ranked opponent in the opening set and won it with a decent margin.
However, the Danish lady could not maintain her positive performance in the following sets and lost the battle with a reasonable score.
In the first game, Porntip remained in control from the initial stage and managed a reasonable gap until the break.
After the interval, the higher ranked Thai shuttler could not live up to expectations and committed many unforced errors and eventually dropped the set with a margin of 18-21.
In the second set, Porntip showed up her impressive skills in the court and did not let her rival to dominate the pace of rallies this time.
Until the mid-game interval, both shuttlers remained positive and composed in the court and the score remained tight.
After the break, the higher ranked Porntip continued putting up tremendous show and wrapped up the set with a three-point margin of 21-18.
In the final set, Karina could not manage to take the bird early as her rival injected pace in her shots. Until the break, the Danish lady was trailing at 8-11 on the board.
After the break, Porntip stretched her lead in the game while remaining positive and thrashed her lower ranked rival without showing nay mercy.
The Thai lady won the final set with a tremendous 21-12 score on the board.
Porntip remained successful in winning this Women’s Singles rubber-set contest with a margin of 18-21, 21-18 and 21-12.
