Thai shuttlers proved their worth against Sri Lanka and won the team-event battle with a stunning margin of 5-0 in Group Y of the Uber Cup Preliminary Round, in Macau, on Tuesday, February 14.
In the opening Women’s Singles fight, Thailand’s Inthanon Ratchanok showed her class against Sri Lanka’s Thilini Jayasinghe and emerged as the winner in straight games.
The World Number 13 Ratchanok did not face any problem from Jayasinghe in the opening set and bagged it with a one-sided score of 21-9.
Ratchanok continued her roller-coaster performance in the second game and ended it with a stunning 21-5 score on the board. The final result of this encounter was 21-9 and 21-5.
In the second Women’s Singles fight, Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk toppled Sri Lanka’s Renu Chandrika Hettiarachchige and won the contest in straight sets.
Porntip did not face any trouble from her rival in both games and remained in complete control. She ended the match with a remarkable margin of 21-12 and 21-11.
In the third Women’s Singles battle, Thailand’s Nichaon Jindapon stamped her supremacy over Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa by winning the contest without dropping even a single set.
The Thai lady proved her superior skills and defeated Thilini in an authoritative fashion by a terrific 21-7 and 21-4 score on the board.
In the first Women’s Doubles fight, Thailand’s Duanganong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul continued the winning streak of their team as they defeated Sri Lanka’s Renu Chandrika Hettiarachchige in straight sets.
Thai shuttlers showed no mercy to their Sri Lankan opponents and won the battle with a fabulous margin. The in-form Thai ladies thrashed their rivals with a stunning margin of 21-4 and 21-10.
The last Women’s Doubles fight of this team-event match was between Thailand’s Savitree Amitrapai – Sapsiree Taerattanachai and Sri Lanka’s Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa – Kavindi Ishandika Sirimannage.
The Thai ladies proved that they belong to a different class of badminton as they crushed their opponent in straight games with a completely one-sided score of 21-5 and 21-4.
