Ubisoft has expects Wii U to drive the industry in the coming days
Third-party support is one of the best things that can happen to any hardware, be it a PC, video game console, hand-held device or smartphone, which is why Nintendo should consider itself privileged.
The Japan-based company is all set to launch its first HD console Wii U in the US on November 18, before sending it to the European and Australian markets on November 30 and finally to Japan on December 8.
Just days before the first next-generation console hits its first target, the Assassin’s Creed and Prince of Persia maker Ubisoft conceded that it is really confident about the hardware doing extremely well in the market.
The publisher’s CEO Yves Guillemot said that with each passing day, his company’s has an increased amount of faith in the capability of Wii U and its ability to perform solidly once it is released to the public.
These words hardly come as a surprise as the company is about to release the latest title in one of its most popular franchise Assassin’s Creed for Nintendo’s console.
That is not all. Ubisoft is also behind another Wii U exclusive ZombiU as well as Rayman Legends.
Both ZombiU and Assassin’s Creed will be among the list of 23 titles that the console is going to be launching with and are expected to contribute significantly to the console’s appeal.
Guillemot pointed out the enthusiasm of the public towards Nintendo’s upcoming console can be judged clearly by the fact that majority of the retailers have already run out of their pre-order stocks.
One thing that really comes off as a bit of a shock is the claim by the company’s CEO that the upcoming high-end console by Nintendo will contribute to six percent of its overall sales during the second half of its financial year.
This one has everyone in a state of shock because of the publisher’s large install-base. Its target market includes nearly all current-generation consoles, a few hand-held video game devices, smart-phones, and of course the most powerful machine of all,
PC.
Such optimistic prediction from Ubisoft does not seem without merit though. The two Wii U launch titles that it has prepared are without any doubt a real pleasure to behold.
Watching the gameplay videos of ZombiU online is enough to create a strong desire within gamers to get their hands on the console and use its unique tablet control GamePad to play the zombie shooter. The experience being promised by the new intellectual
property (IP) appears to be really promising and something that has never been offered before.
Ubisoft is not the only publisher that expects its software for Wii U to bring result in big profit. Other publishers and developers have also begun to put their faith in the new hardware being brought into the market by Nintendo because of it being unique,
powerful and promising.
With the third-party support growing for the console, the Japan-based company has been able to let go of its former policy of showing nearly all its cards during the first few weeks of its console’s release in a bid to increases its sales.
This time around, Nintendo has held back a few of its renowned and highly-anticipated brands to offer them to the fans next year in order to ensure that the appeal and demand of the console does not die away too quickly.
