The publishers of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is shutting down their hosting abilities temporarily, but gamers can still play Revelations and Driver San Francisco online.
One of the larger publishing and development studios in the gaming industry, Ubisoft are the studio responsible for bringing some of the most iconic series and characters to life when it comes to the gaming world.
The Ghost Recon series, of which Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter was the first triple-A shooter to make its way onto the current generation of consoles, the Assassin’s Creed series, Raving Rabbids and Driver: San Francisco are just a few of the IPs the
studio are responsible for gifting to the world.
It seems that the company is now in a phase where they are undergoing a transition and one of the effects of that is that Ubisoft are shutting down their hosting services, albeit only temporarily.
A statement was issued which read, “Starting February 7, Ubisoft will be transitioning the hosting of many of its online services from a third-party data centre to a new facility.” That did not sound all that bad until it went on to say, “During the transition,
some Ubisoft services and online games and services can be found here (on the Ubisoft website).”
The statement continued to explain why the move was necessary and why fans will be impressed when everything is back in place and up and running again.
“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience. This move ultimately will help us improve the maintenance of our infrastructure and deliver better uptime and greatly improved services for our customers.”
It should not be much of an inconvenience seeing how a majority of Ubisoft’s current gamerbase is that of the Assassin’s Creed games, and the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations server will not be affected and remain online and functioning.
The same is the case with Driver: San Francisco as gamers can continue to play the game online without any problems.
As for the rest of the titles however, one can expect downtime in terms of being able to play a number of Ubisoft games online.
