Publisher plans to release Assassin’s Creed 3 by the end of the year and claims that there is definitely demand in the market for another game in the series.
The Assassin’s Creed series has become one of the most well known in the industry across all platforms. Both the game’s main protagonists, Altair and Ezio Auditore de Firenze, have become icons in the gaming world and there is even talk of a Hollywood adaptation of the series in the works.
The latest game in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was also one of the best selling games in the United States last year and was a regular in the top three spots of the software sales charts in the United Kingdom.
Not only did the game sell well, but it received praise from critics and fans alike. All of that put together one would expect another game in the series to come out sooner rather than later and it seems Ubisoft have opted for sooner.
The studio are following their annual release schedule; releasing one game in the series every year and that means that Assassin’s Creed 3 should be out around November this year.
When asked whether or not Ubisoft were pushing it with the annual release model that the company follows, Yves Guillemot rubbished the notion and stated, “We are pleased with our continued success so far: in the US, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was a top Ten title for the entire calendar year, which shows that the demand is definitely there.”
As for the future of the series, well Mr. Guillemot had plenty to say about that too. On the matter of the Assassin’s Creed franchise he got straight to the point, “Assassin’s Creed is an incredible franchise and here are a lot of expectations that it will continue to grow”.
Yet his comment on the next instalment in the series should get every gamer’s mouth watering. He said, “We’re confident that the next instalment of Assassin’s Creed will be the biggest to date”.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations saw the end of both Ezio and Altair as the two characters story arcs came to their respective ends and it will be interesting to see where Assassin’s Creed 3 takes the universe.
