Ubuntu-8.04 Hardy heron installation,need help!!!?

I have a Pentium 4, 2.26GHZ and 128MB of RAM PC.So i tried installing Hardy heron-ubuntu using the alternate cd for i386 computers. the installation went smoothly, but when i login giving my user name and password, the desktop appears to be loading with the beautiful wallpaper of the heron in the background.....and thats about it.The computer just STALLS.I know I have a pretty low RAM,but shouldn't be able to work with it?

  1. I think you have pretty much answered your own question. If you want to run Ubuntu ideally you need to upgrade to 512mb RAM for decent performance. Consider taking a look at Xubuntu 8.04 if this is not an option http://www.xubuntu.org/

However whichever distro. you run 128mb is really insufficient, after all you have a decent enough CPU.

    LUg.
