Ubuntu Screen Problem

Installed Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) the screen resolution looks like it has a problem, I'm trying to change it, but I can't find where to do so. I don't want to uninstall just because of this problem, there must be a solution for this, please tell me how to change the screen resolution.Thank you.
