  1. They are the same product except for some graphics and that one comes with Gnome by default and the other with KDE by default. Either way you can install the other package if you want it. (My preference is towards Gnome so I go with Ubuntu).

Downloads are free (unless your ISP charges you for bandwidth).

  2. ubuntu use gnome interface wich is lighter than kde used on kubuntu. linux is opensource it means that it's free. i personally i prefer SuseLinux 11 wich can be downloaded  free from http://www.opensuse.org/ and it contains both kde and gnome interfaces and u can swich them as u want. and the kde is more nice compared to kubuntu.

  3. ubuntu  it's a bit more user friendly.

  4. Ubuntu

    and you pay nothing

  5. As you probably know that Kubuntu uses KDE and Ubuntu uses GNOME. Well, Gnome is easy and simple to use as it's much lighter whislt KDE has brilliant features, much more beautiful but it's much heavier. So use Kubuntu if you want the look. If look doesn't matter, use Ubuntu. I personally prefer Kubuntu 8.04 than Ubuntu 8.04.1. About installation or download, try

    http://www.ubuntu.com/ or http://www.kubuntu.org/

Again, any further help with Mac try the Apple Site to get help from them.

  6. I prefer Ubuntu but if have installed Ubuntu and you would like to know what it feels like to have Kbuntu just type this into a Terminal:

    sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop k

When you are prompted make sure that you choose gdm.

Logout and select options (in the bottom left hand corner), select Sessions and select KDE then press OK

When you log in you will be asked if you want to make KDE your default choose to use KDE only for this session so you can try it out.
