  1. How would that be a good fight when Scherk fights at 155 lbs?  In a real fight the UFC guy would win more times then not.

  2. Which rules would apply? UFC or Boxing? Such a matchup doesn't make much sense for one thing. I think you need to get real.

  3. I’m tired of people continuing to compare UFC to Boxing. Could a mixed martial artist beat a top boxer?? maybe? But who cares? Would Micheal Jordon do good in football? who cares, How long does the boxer get to train for an MMA fighter?

People have the same argument. "Well all the MMA fighter has to do is take the boxer down" that may be true. But If you give someone like Pavlik and gave him a year to train on avoiding take downs then Pavlik would win.

Look at Chuck Liddell, he wasn’t good on the ground he was a stand up slugger with no actual boxing ability and he ruled for years. All he did was learn to avoid take downs. I’ve trained in it and it does not take long to learn that very simple trick.

Boxers work in mili seconds, their reaction time is far superior to most MMA fighters, so if the boxer had time to train on not getting taken down, then he would just pop shot a MMA fighter's face to hamburger or knock him out with a pin point accurate punch right on the button.

The only hope a MMA fighter would have would be a takedown or possibly a kick, if the boxer could keep on his feet and avoid takedowns then the MMA fighter would get schooled.

Chuck Liddell proved that you don’t need to be a great MMA fighter as long as you can avoid being taken down.

And once again why are we comparing UFC to Boxing??? There entirely two different sports, and why would a top boxer who is making 5, 10, even 20 million a fight go and fight a guy who makes 30 to 50 thousand a fight. It just isn’t going to happen, so let’s just end this silly little conversation.

  4. ruddiger is right on... I feel exactly the same way... if a top tier boxer had a year to train he stood a better chance then a ufc fighter with the same time to focus just on boxing. But a straight up fight would go to the guy whos sport it is. The question itself is just stupid though a top boxer will never fight a ufc guy the pay difference is huge and thats really all that matters now days, not good fights. go ask floyd

  5. I would have to go with UFC winning that one.

  6. What sport would they participate in?  Boxing or MMA?  Thats like saying "Who would win - Michael Jordan or Joe Montana?"

  7. It really would depend on the rules.  MMA rules Sherk would probably win.  Straight boxing Sherk would get the c**p kicked out of him hands down.  Boxing and MMA don't want to cross promote because it could possibly destroy the credibility of fighters, and because there are too many discrepancies about who should promote the fight, where it should be, etc....they can't agree on the business aspects of cross promoting.
