Ufo proof, what do you think???

in the uk recently there have been many ufo sightings but this one sighting has baffled me and i am in no doubt now that something is going on in our skies that the military dont want us to know about. Here is the story.

Two very experienced police helicopter pilots were fliying over a military base in wales when they had to make an emergency bank to the left to avoid being hit by what they describe as a huge metallic disc shaped object. The pilots gave chase but the object dissapeared at an impossible speed dispite the chopper going at its max speed. the chopper had to return to refuel. these two pilots swear by what they saw even though it made them look and sound foolish and no doubt put them in fear of losing their jobs. Our military says the ufo was nothing but a chinese lantern. Errrr, chinese lantern???. Would 2 highly experienced pilots mistake a tiny lantern for a huge metallic disc going at an impossible speed.

I dont think so. Opinions plz & have you ever seen a ufo??

  1. never before but after reading this i think i do believe you..tell your parents.

  2. This is no proof. This is a story. It is not even a witness report. And we will later find out, it is also more a Yarn as a true story.

I have no sources for the story and the UK have a very open policy on official UFO sightings and their investigations. So, I suspect, that this story is invented. Some questions:

    - Which base in Wales?

    - Why overflies a police helicopter a military base?

    - Who else saw this object? The UK are pretty densely settled, for most official UFO sightings, you have around 50-500 witnesses and very often Radar data.

    - A police helicopter flies rarely faster as 230 km/h. That the pilots chased the object after an "emergency bank" indicates two aspects:

-- The person who tells the story was no experienced police man or helicopter pilot. Police men don't chase objects they can't chase, they document it as good as possible. That's why police helicopters are equipped with camera turrets.

-- The person also has no idea on the flight dynamics of a helicopter. If the object came from their field of view and they banked to the left (so it was dominantly coming from the right), they also had to turn around after such a massive c**p maneuver. If the object was so fast, that they can't chase it with a police helicopter, means this, that the object was already far beyond the horizon, before the pilot even thought about turning around.

So, we can conclude: The story is fake.

Even if the story would be more believable and older - the most likely cause could have been a Vulcan bomber, which is a full Delta wing bomber. It is fast, metallic and likes to fly around close to military bases. And people often mistook it for an UFO in the beginning (since 1952), as it was looking unlike everything the people had seen as planes before.

And I have seen many UFOs, which turned out to be IFOs after a short while. The longest time from UFO to IFO was a low and fast flying military helicopter pair for me. On the first time was dense ground fog in the evening, on the second time it was clear - and it had been the same lights.

BTW: Chinese lanterns are very common causes, as people often don't know, that they have to announce these before they launch them. It takes a while for air traffic control to find out where they are from.

  3. UFO sightings are the best way of media to divert peoples attention from growing problems in the society!! Americans did and brits are following it now !!

  4. Yeah i believe there are deffinately other planets with life on them deffinately have been ufo spottings i find it quite exiting lmao...Just think if we exist theres no doubt that others exist some place else x

  5. Someone I know swear they saw 13 amber flashing lights travelling thru the sky on Saturday night, They live in Redditch, Worcestershire, but I've not heard of any other suspicious sightings that night....anyone else or did he find those flashing lights at the bottom of a bottle?

I was travelling back from Shropshire one night with the (now)ex and his parents and we all saw something strange, my ex says it was a blimp but me and his parents all said it was too flat...it was like a cross between a blimp and what the usual pics of flying saucers look like. Not sure what it was but many people made reports that night. I do believe that there is something out there but I think most sightings are innocent.

  6. exactly how can someone mistake huge metallic disc for a lantern....... 1. why would a lantern be up that high anyway... 2. how would it be travelling at such a speed...

its ridiculous... what it is is that they dont want to worry the people in the Uk. I havent seen one myself actually i saw something in the sky years ago ... but it disappeared. no idea if it was a ufo...

  7. I've never seen anything that I could not describe scientifically. If I did, I would certainly think that I just did not know what it was, I wouldn't assume that it was an alien spacecraft. The fact that you heard a story of two pilots who swear that they saw an object that they could not identify does not mean that it was an alien spacecraft. It just means that they may have seen something that was not yet within their realm of experience, like a new type of secret aircraft etc.

Another urban myth, masquerading as the truth and dressed for effect.

Like all UFO sightings, it lacks depth.

    .

  8. If the military wanted to keep it secret you would be the last person to hear about it.

These stories have been floating about in virtually identical form to what you write since before the Second World War.  During the war, these things were called "foo fighters" by Allied airmen.

Who told you?  The pilot of the helicopter?  Someone on the 'copter?  One of the ground staff?  Was it some one who knew someone who - - -. Or did you read it in a magazine or a web site?  Where did the writer of the story get it?  Did he invent it from stories that are already almost 70 years old?  Did he replace the Lancaster bomber or  Hurricane fighter with  a police helicopter to bring it up to date?

Feared to lose their jobs.  Yes that is a frequent part of the story too.

This stuff was pretty thoroughly investigated in the 1960s and they came to the conclusion that most of the sightings could be identified. Of the remainder, the witnesses were incompetent or fraudulent, with a few sighting being truly unexplained.  Like about 4 in a thousand.

We've heard it all before.  It wasn't convincing in 1968 and it isn't convincing now.

  9. i don't think so! but i went on you tube and typed in UFO and it came u with lots around china area!!! i have not seen a UFO before! but i want to find out if they r real that's why I'm thinking of becoming a scientist! but i don't think that story is real! but we will never know!!!  maybe in the future! hope i helped

  10. I dont believe it.

  11. It never ceases to amaze me that there are so many people who believe such nonsense; not that there are not unidentified flying objects, I have no doubt that there are. But that they are ascribed to extraterrestials. I suppose it stems from ignorance,(not stupidity). People apparently have no concept of the vastness of space and the distance between stars. Perhaps it's a good thing: it illustrates our desire to understand the, as yet, inexplicable. It's the same motivation that created the gods in ancient cultures, and the god in ours.

I guess the best evidence we have for the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life forms is that they haven't tried to contact us.

  12. Police helicopters, just like civilian ones, are banned from flying over military bases.

Could you please cite the story, ie say in which paper it was reported?

  13. Right. Lets get one thing straight.

Out of all the planets in OUR solar system, we have found no evidence of complex life (things like us, I'm not talking about tiny, microscopic creatures with only a very small amount of cells) on any of them except for Earth. OK?

The nearest solar system is 2,000,000 light years away. That mean that it would take anyone 2 million years to get to our solar system if they were traveling at the same speed as light. OK?

Since there is absolutely nothing except light which can do that, any living creature trying to get to our galaxy from it's galaxy would die over a million years before it managed to get here.

Does that prove to you that it is impossible for alien life to exist within our solar system? If there are aliens in existence there are most certainly none in our solar system. I doubt they exist regardless of where they are.

  14. Britain's Area 51 lol

    Yeah I believe it

  15. scientists should stop spending money on UFO  spotting and use it to build hospitals instead

  16. its possible

  17. What annoys me about things like this is when skeptical people say '' There is nothing to UFO's but lights in the sky, blurry pictures '' etc.  there have been thousands of pilots reporting how they actually SAW a disc, that flew at thousands of miles per hour, make right angle turns ( which we cannot do ) and come to a complete stop after travelling at thousands of miles per hour. Either these people, who are trusted millitary pilots, or trusted civi pilots who carry thousands of people are lying, or they are hollucinating(Spelling?). either one is rather worrying. There is DEFINETLY something to UFO's and flying saucers. Either, the government has technology way in advance and is not letting on forwhatever reason or they come from somewhere else. I really do not see what else it could be. The government, claim to lose files, then discover them again...or they know nothing of the incident and then years later files come to light which shows they did know about it. its no wonder people think there is some sort of conspiracy. There needs to be one big study involving scientists and academics because surely, discs that can fly thousands of miles per hour and do right angle turns, is something that is worth taking note of, whatever they may be.

  18. I have a complete and utter belief in "Unidentified Flying Objects".  By definition, an object that flies, and you cannot identify.  I just have trouble with the leap into calling the pilot's of said craft "extraterrestrial".  There are a lot of aircraft that could be tough to identify, and weather phenomena that appear to be flying craft.  The last city-wide sighting in the US was a guy releasing emergency flares tied to balloons.  At altitude, it created an array of lights in a wing shaped pattern.

I've seen tons of UFOs myself, as I see something in the sky and don't know what the heck it is.

  19. plausible

  20. The proof is that if you can't identify it it will always remain a UFO.

  21. Why all the activity all of a sudden? Has a worm hole opened to let them all in or is it all a ploy to take our minds off the up and coming recession?

  22. You really belive that police helicopter pilots over a military base saw something unknown so they just started chasing it?  If it was just an experimental aircraft or something, what would they do went they caught up to it?  Whatever the UFO was, those pilots are either lying or use really bad judgement.

  23. yeah i saw one once before not too long ago problably about 3 weeks ago. i was on my way home from town and we saw it just hovering high over our church (i live in ireland) it was strange, darker than the rest of the sky cause it was night it was circular if you looking straight down on it or straight up from under it but then it was like oval looking from the side but there was no bright lights or anything like that then when we got closer it just seemed to move back and forward really fast then it was gone.

  24. I've seen some with my own eyes, not too long ago as well.... basically two bright lights that were going left (so I thought they were planes)..... but then stopped all of a sudden and zoomed off to the right (!).. I was like.... WTF?!?

But none of my mates were around and I knew if I said anything they'd think I was a right weirdo!! So I've had to keep quiet about it!

    ------------------------------------

Lol I love how I get thumbed down..... I'm only talking about a personal experience I had!! Why would I make that up?!? Talk about closed minds........

  25. You realize, I hope, that the only true part of the story is the pilots seeing something unusual as they were coming it to land.

The rest of the story (including the chase) was fabricated -- probably by the newspaper.

    Next!

    E. Despair:  The nearest galaxy is 2 million light-years away.

The nearest stars are only 4 light-years away and the nearest star that could maybe perhaps be of the right type (but no planet has been found there... yet) is about 12 light years away.

That still leaves 24 years (or more) for a return trip.  You'd think that after such a long trip (and after coming here for what it seems like decades) they'd find something more interesting to do than buzz helicopters and titillate YouTube viewers.

    ---

Larry: You may be correct.  Perhaps they wait for us to become an intelligent specie.
