Ok, so I really want a hamster. I think they are so cute, cuddly, and furry and adorable! My dad said that I can get one, but my mom says no. Even though I tell her its my responsibility, they dont smell (thats the problem) if you clean them good and groom your pet etc correctly. And that it'd be in my room in its cage at all times UNLESS im playing with it." My dad is convinced and said I can get one, but my mom still said no even though I wrote a 7 PAGE letter and researched a lot, and told her things and facts etc. Im so mad because my dad says yes, my mom says no. Im gonna try to get A's all year for school, do chores, etc. What else can I do? IM NOT GONNA GIVE UP! I'll even pay for everything.

  1. Just keep begging and begging and begging. Ask her why exactly she won't let you get one, also ask your dad to talk to her. Other then that you'll just have to accept it.

  2. hmm, sounds like my daughter.  I love animals so I usually give in!  She begs alot, cleans up around the house, begs some more, makes promises, etc. etc.

    Have you owned pets before and not kept up with what you promised?  That would make me hesitant in getting another pet.

  3. you should ask this question in the psychology section. your question has hardly anything to do with animals.

  4. You can hold your breath and stomp your little feet 'till the end of human history...      but if Mom's the boss, the answer will probably still be no.

    Do any of your friends have hamsters?  If so, have them bring one over for her to see and hold.  Maybe she'll see how cute they are and change her mind.  Make sure your friend cleans its cage before it comes over.

  5. Get your daddy to take you to buy one when your mom's working.

    They may argue, but you and fluffy shall be happy ;)

  6. Keep doing what you are doing!  You could try getting a book from the library about hamsters and showing it to your mum, or take her to speak to someone who can answer any questions she may have.  Ask her why she doesn't want a hamster in the house, then you can handle objections.  You could also try borrowing one (after her agreeing first!) for a week or so, then she can see first hand what they're like, and you can demonstrate how well you'll look after it!

    My mum and dad were always the same with anything furry, but when I had to move back home with my rabbit they took to her so well, and have now volunteered to look after the rabbits, and my dog when I go on holiday!  Perseverance is the key!

  7. I Totally understand. deja vu for me with every child hood pet i have ever owned. i suggjest tryng to create some sornt of contract or something tying nto stuff your mom wants done if ykou get the hampster. or just get a friend over 18 to buy it (they are very cheap) and keep it secretly. but that is probelly not the best idea. try to work tthu your dad to get to your mom.

  8. wow, your really passionate! i really respect that about you...if i was your mom and youc actually did those things, i would get you an even better pet or something. lol. a dog maybe?

    anyways, good luck with that!=]

  9. Do extra chores and help out more. Maybe you mom will notice how responsible you are and will reconsider her decision. Good luck!
