well i moved here like maybe 4 months ago..and when i moved in everything seemed soo fine..there were a couple of things that needed to be done prior to me moving in, but i just thought that they would go ahead and fix them since they knew that had some one that was moving in...about maybe 2 weeks into moving in, nothing that needed to be done was done..i kept calling and calling and they swore up and down that they would..they eventually did maybe 2 months later..i am now in my 4th month and some days and i have three more problems...i was wondering if there would be a problem if i just wanted to swith units..i mean i dont want to go through the hassles of trying to break my lease..i just want to change units..i just wanted some input before i call them or what not..ps i have also complained to the people that are higher than the managers here..and it seemed to work a little..thanks

  1. it's funny you didn't list the problems.

    what does raggedy mean?

  2. I would first talk to your landlord about the situation.  They may be willing to switch units if you're unhappy in your current location.  Directly state your concerns and ask for a fix within a certain time period.

If they will not comply with your requests, first send them a Certified, Signature-Required letter stating your complaints.  Make sure that someone must sign for the letter, or they can say that they never received it.

Also, check around with your local/state laws about renting.  Most states have laws that protect renters from stuff like this.  If you keep having problems, and they continue to ignore your complaints, then go to the state/local law figures.  Take the signature-required receipt with you to show that you've sent an official complaint.

  3. if landlord/mgr won't fix problems promptly, see if there is a local housing authority you can complain to get someone to make them respond faster.
