Ughhhhh,can you get dry socket when you lose a baby tooth?

Please respond. Need to know,got my baby tooth pulled today. (I'm a p*****n) My mom is freaking me out about "dry socket". PS: I would like a dentist's response. =) Thanx.

  1. Not a dentist but the answer is no. A dry socket is where the bone is exposed to air. You have a permanent tooth just under where you lost your tooth or your tooth wouldn't have fallen out. It is the tooth under the baby tooth that causes the roots to dissolve so that the tooth becomes loose.  If a person doesn't have a permanent tooth just under the baby tooth the baby tooth will not fall out. That is why people who are born with no permanent teeth can keep their baby teeth.


  2. NO...(not a dentist, a hygienist) but baby teeth are only held in place by gum tissue as the roots have resorbed...and therefore NOT in bone any longer (the adult tooth is there now)
