I saw one i like in a bass pro shop magazine they sent me, and was wondering if it was worth getting, or I should just stick to a normal rod. Also What is a goo catfishing reel?

  1. Bass pro shops does an admirable job of matching rods to reels making them balanced (which you will need for comfort and ease of handling all day) the rods you buy there should be taken to a very full line fishing store and you can ask the fishing dept. manager to assist you in matching the right reel to your rod after you find the one you like there ask him (or her) to put it on hold for you and then go home and on line research and find the best priced one you can find and get it. Matched sets will engage your fishing to better level of consistency in your fishing experience,

  2. If your a real man you'll catch catfish by noodling!

  3. Oh heck yes! I have been using mine for a few years now after having several other rods break on me constantly. I fish the Mississippi River for big blue cats, and my Ugly Stik catfish rod is the only rod I trust in those situations. I've been through my fair share of battles with "bruiser" blues, and this rod is always up to the task. I was surprised that the rod was as powerful as it is. If you're targeting big cats, it's what you need. Please do not put all your trust in the reel it comes with it (if you get the combo). It's not worth c**p! I have found a very good reel in the Abu Garcia Cardinal 106. It's a perfect fit for the 7 foot rod, holds plenty line, has a good drag system, instant anti reverse, and handles braid very well. After seeing the fish we catch with no problems out of our rods, I don't hesitate to recommend that rod!

  4. i don't know about the goo reel but the ugly stick rod is awsome. i have had two of them for about five years and so far no problems.

  5. you should get it they have incredible sensibility so you can always tell you have a fish. good ones can bend half circles before they break even more if you have a really good one. they are light weight also. i like the cork handle ones.

  6. That's just marketing hype.

There is no such thing as a "catfish rod" or a "catfish reel". There are rods and reels which are light, medium, and heavy action, and everything in between to handle any possible fish. That's it.
