Question:

Uh Oh! I found some thank you notes that didn't get mailed almost 2 years after wedding!?

I was cleaning house and ran across a box that my parents had sent down from their house. Right there in the bottom, covered in Kool-Aid or wine stains... were a group of thank you cards that I had written the day after the wedding. Somehow they didn't make it to the mailbox with the rest of the cards. I know that some of the thank-yous were sent out as I had friends commenting on the design, but now I'm worried that more people may be missing thank-yous.

Should I mail the stained cards? Should I mail the stained cards in another envelope with an apology and explanation card? What should I do? I feel so ashamed and embarrassed!

  1. i would rewrite the cards then send them out with a letter of apology and explanation. dont send out the stained ones.

  2. Let bygones be bygones. If no one complained or said anything to you, don't worry about it. You forgot and it was an honest oversight. Also, don't send out the stained cards, thrown them away.

  3. Quick - mail them now! You can always say it was the postal service ;)

  4. Bummer - but yeah, I would send out the cards with a note to explain and a kind of "Ooops, Look what happened!" sentiment. I'm sure anyone who gave you a present in the spirit of generosity will understand and not be offended.

If there are any more missing thank you's then no-one has brought it up - if the postal service is anything like the UK then they might never have arrived anyway!!

    All the best

  5. I would definitely fill out new cards and send them out with a little explanation.

Like the person said above me, if you include a message such as "Better late than never", you can't go wrong.  I'm sure they will have a small chuckle and will appreciate the effort on your part and of course understand the circumstances.

Better that they receive this late card than nothing at all.  It will show your appreciation for them!

    Can't go wrong.

  6. If you feel embarrassed about the situation I would put them in another envelope and attach a small note explaining what took place. You could put like" better late then never" kinda light joke.
