Uh-oh...spray painted plastic with regular spray paint. Now what?

I spray painted a plastic sterlite containter (the kind with 3 drawers)...I didn't paint the drawers, just the frame. So, I let it dry for a little while, very pleased with myself, and took it inside to put the drawers in. Now, the drawers are scraping the spray paint off. Apparently, this happens with spray paint and plastic. And now after research, I know there are special spraypaints for plastic. But, what should I do? Should I peel all of the old spraypaint off and start over with "for plastic spray paint?" Can I just spray paint a clear coat on top? If so, what kind of clear coat?

I think you have to peel the old stuff off and repaint with spray paint for plastics....  It's got something in it that helps the paint bond to the plastic....
