Uh oh the third coming another future bust?

I know he wasn't even taken yet but do you feel his stock is dropping or people jumping to conclusions again?

He's a seventeen year old kid who is going to be a very rich young man in a year or two. Is he going to be a Gretzky or Howe. Not likely but who knows.

He will not dominate the league. Ovechkin has come close but still hasn't dominated the way Orr or Gretzky did. Everyone expects another Gretzky. h**l, even Lemieux wasn't another Gretzky.

Tavares will be a good NHL player. But whether he will dominate is unlikely.

The new rules that allow a player to become a free agent at age 26 (at his prime) will have greater effect on Tavares future then what he does as a junior.

I think his stock may be dropping a little, what caused his stock to go so high was the fact that he was so good at such a young age, that development seems to have plateaued.  Is that because Jr hockey is no longer a challenge for him or are the rest of the guys his age catching up on the development level.  Remember everyone anointing Angelo Espisito the Number 1 overall  2 yrs before his draft and he plateaued and fell to 20th.

I am not saying Tavares is not good and will not be good but we have to remember that a Gretzky type comes around once in a lifetime, a lemieux/Crosby/Ovechkin is once or twice a generation.  Not every Number 1 overall pick is going to come in and dominate a la Crosby and Ovechkin.

He will probably be No 1 overall but will not be the Next next one

Every year that happens to someone. It happens in every sport. Don't we all remember that poor Russian kid two years ago that was supposed to be drafted in the first round and then never got drafted at all. They showed that again this Draft . He at least got picked this time . His "stock " will go up and down many more times before the next draft. I am sure. It is getting tiring of the media calling all these guys the so - called next one anyway.
