  1. get used to waking up early. If your tryout is at 8am, I suggest you wake up at 7am and get ready. It would hurt to do some stretches, because it helps you wake up. My tryout's a 9am, so I wake up at 7, do a 30 minute stretch, have a piece of fruit and redbull. That's just me though. Im NOT a morning person at all, so I have to get up earlier and wake myself up!!

You should expect = soreness haha~ it's not encouraging but it's true. You should expect some agility tests, 6position drills, mini scrimmages, running, stretching, jumping.. If you're a freshmen, have good attitude. Dont be like a little ******. Im not saying you are like that but there were some girls like that and acted like they were the s hit. I mean they were a piece of s hit and had s hitty skills. Be enthusiastic, call the ball a lot and LOUD PLEASEEEEEE (mine, got it), be nice to the upperclassmen, me a good communicator with the teammates, and try your hardest. Coaches look for potential in freshmen. They dont expect anything big from you guys Trust me. Our coach is known to be like stubborn and picky and stuff. He picks all the varsity players really exclusively and stuff, but when it comes to freshmen, he looks for girls who are enthusiastic, has good attitude, and potentials to get better.

  2. start waking up a little earlier each day, so it's not really really hard to wake up on the 13th. eat well and drink water. at my tryouts, we had to run a mile every day. they'll do basic drills that you already know and test your skills. relax! have a good time and don't stress. good luck!

  3. Relax, and don't worry too much about what you can do more.

At this point, all you should worry about is what you SHOULDN'T do.

    Things not to do:

    Sleep late the night before.

    Skip meals.

    Eat huge meals.

    Forget to use the restroom.

    Tire yourself out with practice.

Eat hard-to-digest food the day before.

    Forget water.

Try not to do any practice whatsoever the day before the tryouts.  Drink lots of water to get any impurities out of your system.  (pomegranate juice has lots of anti-oxidants and will clean out your body well)  Go to sleep early.  Wake up early.  Most people go to tryouts as the first thing they do in the morning and end up sleepy.  So try to eat breakfast and do something the morning before tryouts.  If you're going to drink coffee or energy drinks, do it about 15-20 minutes before tryouts so you don't burn out in the middle.

All this alone should help you make the team, because everyone else is going to be messed up.

    Good luck! =]

  4. take a shower that wakes me up maybe u in cold water.u should expect a lot of running.i think to get ur self prepared is raise up ur stamina do some running at the park anything that raises up ur heart beat like the jump rope...good luck i hope u make it

  5. I am going to combine some of the above answers to emphasize some issues.

Go to bed early and get up early starting now.  That way, you will be used to the time when it happens.

NO COFFEE or stimulants even if you stay up all night before the tryouts and party.  You need to have your body on a natural high from the excitement of the tryouts.  That natural high will help you at the tryouts.  Stimulants will increase your nerves, not your alertness.

Drink water.  And drink some more water.

RELAX.  BREATHE.  You will play better if you just concentrate on things you can control.  You can not worry about whether or not you will make the team.  You can not worry about shanking that pass and not making the team.  Concentrate on every contact and on the contact.  You can only control what you do.  You may not make the team because you look like someone the coach hates or you may be one of 6 people trying for 2 spots.  Do your best and let everything else happen.

If you make a mistake, you can get mad at yourself.  For less than 1 second.  If you are mad longer than 1 second, you will make another mistake.  And another.  And so on.  After a mistake, take a deep breath and stare at the ball.  If you shank a serve, stare at the server and the ball.  If it is a passing drill, just stare at the ball.

    Call the ball LOUDLY.

Encourage your team mates.  And sound like you mean it.  I helped evaluate players at a tryout several years ago.  The one player would go over and say "nice try, you will get the next one"  and SMILE.  She was thinking about moving up one more space because that player messed up a play.  Coachs like team players, not individuals.

Hustle on every play.  Even when others are just jogging, you should be running.

Listen to the coach.  If the coach corrects you, your answer is "thank you, I will work on that and mean it."  And do not give any body language that gives you away.  If you roll your eyes or shake your head, you will be having plenty of free time this fall.   Coaches want coachable players.  They may take players with less talent if they can be taught.  A good, positive attitude is very important.

  6. Set up a stereo in your room, and a timer of any kind to enable the stereo to play your favorite music in the morning.

Leave your curtain half open and put up a sign somewhere in your room telling yourself that you have scheduled something very fun in the "early" morning. If those are not available, put your alarm clock 6 feet away from your bed so that you would not be able to reach it without being truly waken up.

Do NOT drink coffee in the try-out-morning, it is dehydrating (extracting water from your body), and making your heart jump out of your mouth.

Bring enough water and Propel, an extra t-shirt, a towel, and your mp3 player... besides some other basic stuff (shorts, knee pads, socks).

Usually it is the most nervous girl who will be able to make the team, cuz she is the most serious one.

Good luck, and enjoy playing volleyball.

  7. Valium

  8. mine are the same day at 6 a.m.!!! well if you wake up about an hour before it should give your body time to wake up or even stretch when you get up to wake your muscles up

you should expect some hard volleyball drills and a lot of work!!!

coaches use tryouts to see who can deal with the stress and pressure of real life volleyball situations in games so at first it might seem challenging but don't worry try your hardest

be confident and go into it thinking that you will try your very hardest and hope for the best !!

Don't be afraid, every girl there is nervous .. dont' let that mess you up.. coaches look for someone who is willing to learn and have fun!!!

    good luck

  9. Well,

    expect alot of pain

    the next day.

But it'll all be worth it

once you see your name on the paper for

girls who made the team !

Good luck & just try your hardest to not fall asleep on the way there. !

  10. A good way to be 110% woken up for the tryouts would be you could jog to practice, drink lots of water before them, eat a light breakfast, fruit/juice/ceral. I am also going to be a freshman and for the first week we do a lot of conditioning like running and the abs, and jumping, weights, stuff like that. so just be prepared to get a good work out.
