  1. Kittens require a series of FVRCP vaccinations (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia, and Feline Leukemia, AIDS, Infectious Peritonitis, and Rabies). The vaccinations usually start between 6 and 8 weeks of age and need a booster every 3-4 weeks until they reach 16 weeks of age. At that time the kitten is old enough for a rabies vaccination and the immunizations are then recommended annually.

Why boosters? Lets go back to biology class - remember the bell curve? While kittens are nursing they receive immunity from mom, assuming she is vaccinated, when the kittens are weaned the immunity starts to decline. We want to vaccinate at just the right time to give the kittens the proper immunity. Since we don't know exactly when that is we give a booster series.

  2. You can get all that information by calling up your local Vet and getting the pricing on everything. Don't settle by talking to one vet though, call up different places in your area to make sure that the price for the vaccinations are all in the same price range in all offices.

  3. I know what you mean! Its very confusing and I have to look at this website all of the time!  And make sure you keep track of vaccinations. That can get confusing too! Here look at it.
