Question:

Uk, have you ever had money back after Royal Mail failed to deliver on time or lost your item?

Royal Mail failed to deliver a special delivery item to myself yesterday. I paid for the post for item at Ebay , it was 'guaranteed' to be delivered before 1pm yesterday, and 'when I was out' a postman attempted to deliver it at the spiffingly insane time of 13.40hrs..

their website promises to return the post costs to the sender, so i assume it would be impossible for me to raise the action even though I paid for the deliver to a seller via paypal? I am the sender monetary wise but not physically! Or should i just forget it and let the continue running their farcical delivery system? thanks in advance for anyones verdicts...just heading to sorting office 24hrs late......

Are they always so useless, and has anyone ever been compensated?

  1. Useless babe is too harsh clueless more like.

  2. The royal mail are pathetic. They are always late their staf are useless and post never gets delivered properly. Recently a postman could not be bothered to deliver my or my partners mail at all and as a result lost a lot of money. Our complaints led to nothing, they need to be sorted out.

  3. Yes, the Royal Mail paid me £70 for a new passport that was lost (more like stolen) while being sent by special delivery.

Unfortunately the repayment scheme didn't cover the cost of the holiday I had to cancel as a result of having no passport. I'm still a little bitter about the claim by some lying toad of a Royal Mail delivery driver that stated on the online tracking that delivery was attempted at 4.26pm (so bitter I can remember years later) when I was at home and waiting... which was still well after the before 1pm claim made for special delivery.

I wasn't too impressed with the responses I got at the local delivery office when I asked where my item was.

However in fairness when I contacted Royal Mail customer services with a view to making a claim the member of staff I spoke to who handled my claim was very pleasant and efficient. I had a cheque within days.

I'd still rather something was sent by them than City Link though!

  4. nop

  5. I have just had a refund of £98 after they failed to deliver a PSP to Hong Kong although it has taken since November 2007 to receive it and I only received it on Tuesday this week!

  6. lol having worked as a casual postman during summer holidays i can confirm that theres more urgency in a snail race than in a royal mail sorting office

youre prob best off contacting the sender and asking if she will claim the refund then pay it to you, cos i doubt royal mail will refund you (since you arent the sender in their eyes)
