There are 3 main consulates that deal with visa's and immigration. They are NYC, Chicago and LA.

I would think NYC would be nearer to you.

If you wish to be a UK solider you will need to be screened. Contact the UK military first and they will deal with the immigration for you if you are fit enough to be accepted. Recruitment is not taken lightly so you better really want it or you are not going to get it.
