Uk law,england and wales PACE act1984 what's the scottish equivalent?

police and criminal evidence act 1984

this act applies to only england and wales, is this correct?and if so what is the scottish equilavent to this act/law if the PACE act 1984 does not apply to scotland there must be some act or law that is in place in scotland that covers the same meanings.

  1. Yes, PACE is only relevant to England and Wales.

    I am a serving Scottish Police Officer, and my knowledge of PACE is limited (very limited).

    In Scotland, we adhere to Scots Law.  All offences are either Common Law (Assault, Breach of Peace, Theft etc) or statutes (Road Traffic, Drugs etc).  We require a corroborative Officer for all procedures ie.caution and interview/charge/arrest etc.  With PACE, cops can arrest on suspicion, but we detain for a period not exceeding 6 hours before we either arrest or release.

    This causes obvious problems with cross border enquiries.
