  1. Presumably the employer is not prepared to go to great expense for a 1 or 2 day snap of poor weather. Is the employer large, small, profitable, struggling? Think about the big picture and muck in, Wear a vest or two and get on!

  2. Last i was aware (this is off the rules 8 years ago) it was 6 degrees C, any lower than that and you can legally quit work, although NO you do NOT get paid a penny for it, it just means that they cant sack you for it.

More surprisingly, there isn't actually a maximum temporature threshold... so when the rapture comes and earth becomes a fireball unfortunately you've still got to get up for work the next day.

  3. Warm yourself up by doing some work and stop whingeing.

  4. Here you go: http://www.hse.gov.uk/contact/faqs/tempe...

    And you wouldn't be paid.

  5. I have found the answer you are looking for, to be applied generally. However there are certain trades, and occupations which have different minimums.

There is advice in the ACoP stating the minimum temperature in workrooms should be 16 oC, or if severe physical effort is required, 13 oC. This advice does not apply where it would be impractical to maintain such temperatures, e.g where food is being kept cold. There is no advice on an appropriate maximum temperature.

Please see link for further info for other trades and occupations.

  6. If the temperature is NOT up to 16c/61f within one hour of arriving in work, you can walk out.

  7. you could always pull the health and safety card.they may do something about it then

  8. I think it would depend on your job but in a normal workplace i believe the temp has to reach 60 degrees within the first hour, check with your H + S rep they will know.
