such as chrons. the condition has caused no problems other than having to take medication, for over 20 years. we used to get insurance through boots, but when we called to renew they said we had to go through a new company.

we got a quote off them that was over double what we normally pay. we said we would try someone else and they said that we would be referred back to them by every major insurance company as no one other than them now covers pre existing conditions. is this correct? i have tried looking on line but cant find any. who do you use for pre-existing conditions?

  1. No this is not correct they are just trying to get more money out of you.

it is standard that pre existing medical conditions are excluded but most travel insurers will extend cover for stable conditions.

I would recommend going to a local insurance broker who will probably have access to such companies and will be able to give you the correct advice.

Alternatively try a company that specialises in travel insurance rather than a shop or bank as they are more likely to give you the cover you require and the correct advise you need

  2. Shop around, this is a good link to start with:http://www.know-insurance.co.uk/travel/i...  Every insurance company will charge extra for pre-exising conditions, it's all about the risk they are taking, but it's not likely that the information is shared.

The important thing is to be extremely honest with the company or your policy will be worthless.

I could write a book on the horror stories I've heard as a travel/insurance rep about people who have lied about their conditions.
