Uk residents. I have no dial on my phone i cant receive incoming calls even though it rings?

I cant phone out as there is no dial tone nothing!!! I have aol for my internet connection which works fine my phone calls are also through aol. SO what could my problem be?? BT are tracking the problem any ideas

  1. Unplug every phone/dsl equipment from all phone sockets in your house. Then remove the front panel of the main phone socket in your house, behind the panel will be a socket labelled "Test" plug your phone into there and retest, it maybe a faulty NTE. This is very remote as your DSL is working which means you have connection to the DSLAM in the exchange. Sounds like a switch fault to me but it is always worth a try.

    Call BT and ask them to run a line test using "Problems on outgoing call - No dial tone" this will check the local loop and the exchange.


  2. Could`nt you try the phone at a neighbors. Perhaps it`s knackered

  3. As your AOL is still working i would guess that the problem is with your phone or with a filter. Try a different phone and filter.

    I have also known the dial tone to be removed on a line but this is in the settings that the provider creates so shouldnt just appear.
