i live in the UK and i want to do medicine, but i plan on emigrating to either the USA or Canada after my studies. It would obviousely be more convenient in i study in one of the countries, but as an international student it can be very expensive. Is is possible to apply for scholarships , or to have part of the tuition paid?

If so, how much can i expect to pay?

thanks

  1. There are two frequent types of financial aid in the USA and Canada :

-Need-based aid : This kind of financial aid is easy to find, and I guess more than 95% of the universities and colleges offer need-based grants. It depends on your family's financial situation. For instance, if you're qualified for an institution, and your family are only able to pay half of the expenditure, then the institution will pay another half. But if your family are able to pay the whole tuition and living expenses, then you will do not receive any aid, even when you are another Albert Einstein!

-Merit-based awards : this kind of financial aid is difficult to get and difficult to find. Less than 5% of the colleges here offer merit-based awards. That means if you are an outstanding student, they will try their best to get your tuition and other expenses paid. The more exellent you are, the more money you receive.

In conclusion, just count how much money your family could afford for your studying overseas then you will now the approximative money you can expect to pay.
