Ukraine Women’s national hockey team outclassed the Welsh outfits 7-3 in a pool C match in the EuroHockey Nations Championship II played at University of Physical Education, Ul Krolowej Jadwigi in Poznan, Poland on Saturday, August 13.
As the stats showed it was a highly entertaining game studded with ten goals in total, seven from the Ukrainian women and three from the Welsh. The Ukrainian ladies dominated their opponents throughout the match, particularly in the first thirty five minutes
where they scored six goals, goal after every six minutes on average, while their contenders could make only a single strike in the first half. The Ukrainian women were matchless throughout the first half, in fact throughout the match, where they displayed
wonderful dribbling skills and great control of the ball.
The first started on a high pace and with a great action as the Ukrainian women took the early lead just two minutes into the first half when Halyna Hlynenko scored the opening goal for Ukraine. Soon after the opener, Ukrainian once again were in action
as they doubled their lead in the fifth minute, just three minutes after the opening goal, thanks to Maryna Vynohradova who scored a splendid field goal.
However, just a minute after, their lead once again was reduced to a single score when Welsh women scored their first goal of the match in the sixth minute on a penalty corner, the scorer was Tina Evens. The Ukrainian ladies were unstoppable throughout the
entire first half as they scored four more gaols before the interval. Their third goal came in the 13th minute when Nataliya Vasyukova converted a penalty corner into a beautiful goal. They ticked the scoreboard in the 18th minute but
this time it was Valeriya Tanchyk who contributed to the scoreboard. In the last three minutes of the first half Ukrainian scored further two goals, the fifth in the 32nd minute by Maryna Vynohradova and the sixth in the 35th minute by
Bohdana Sadova.
In the second half the Ukrainian women remained relaxed and did not show their efforts as in the first half and ticked the scoreboard only once whereas the Welsh ladies showed some improvement in their game and scored twice in the second half of the game.
The Welsh women scored their second goal in the 46th minute when they were awarded a penalty stroke and Leah Wilkinson made no mistake in converting it into their second goal. They scored their final goal of the match in the 67th minute,
this time Sophie Robinson contributed to the scoreboard. However, just before the final whistle, the Ukrainian ladies once again seemed in action and Maryna Khilko finished the match with a wonderful field goal in the 68th minute.
