I've had an ulcer underneath the tip of my tongue for the past 4mths, I saw a specialist last week who took a biopsy last week and i will have the results next tuesday.

I would appreciate people's opinions/experience on this subject........my tongue has gone numb at the tip and i have white shading around it.

I appreciate your help and honesty

  1. I've had something similar. It could just be an infection and they will give you cream.  I don't have anything professional to say. But I hope that boosts your hope!

  2. From your own description . . cancer cannot be ruled out at this point in time. It is good that you had a biopsy, so you will just need to wait for the results.

    Best of luck.

  3. Milly- While cancer is a possibility, there are over 20 other causes of tongue ulcers.  Some of the more common causes include:

    Biting

    Chewing

    Burning of the tongue

    Herpes virus

    Tuberculosis (infection)

    Histoplasmosis (a fungus)

Most likely your biopsy diagnosis will set your mind at ease.  My best guess is that it will be an inflammatory reaction to some irritation or contact.  Good luck.

  4. It is possible to be cancer. You did the right thing by going to the Doctor. How did he say it looked to you? I had breast cancer last year and had both breast removed but I am cancer free now and I had no treatments. Just have faith in God and it will come out good. God bless..
