The former German international has rated the Bayern Munich striker above Real Madrid sensation and former Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Former German striker, Ulf Kirsten, reckons that Mario Gomez is far better than http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, because the Bayern Munich star is a team player.
Kirsten believes that Bayern Munich are blessed to have such a talented and devoted individual amongst their ranks. He feels that Bayern are incomplete without Gomez, as he has been the main man behind their recent success.
After winning the Golden Boot award in the previous campaign, the striker has amassed 16 goals from as many league appearances so far this season. The 46-year-old believes that the former Stuttgart star has time on his side, and
still has a lot of room for improvement.
While talking to Bild, the former Bayer Leverkusen star further stated:
"In Europe and indeed worldwide, Gomez is at the time the striker par excellence. Gomez is preferable to me than http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734. And I think that Gomez will develop further: he's only 26 and has already shown that he can survive difficult
periods."
Apart from his impressive league form, Gomez has also made a significant contribution in his team’s European success this season. The 26-year-old has scored seven goals from as many appearances in Europe, and was the main figure
in helping them finish atop the Group A.
Bayern find themselves top of the league table with 37 points from 17 league games before the winter break.
The striker landed at Allianz-Arena on a four-year deal in 2009, and his contract is due to expire at the end of the next season. The Reds officials are believed to be preparing a new bumper contract for the German international,
to convince him to stay at the club.
Spanish giants, Real Madrid, are believed to be tracking the striker, and they might try their luck with a January bid.
On the other hand, former Bayern Munich striker, Gerd Muller, has also showered praise on the German international. He believes that his record of 40 goals in a season is under serious threat if Gomez keeps playing the same way
after the winter break.
