The Bayern Munich President reckons that the Koln striker should not consider moving abroad as he might not be as successful as he has been with the Billy Goats.
Podolski is strongly linked with a move abroad at the end of this season after getting frustrated with his club’s progress in the Bundesliga.
The striker believes that the Billy Goats will never get hold of silverware if they do not recruit big name players. He told that it would be inappropriate to extend his stay at the RheinEnergieStadion as he is not satisfied with
the club’s ambitions.
However, Hoeness believes that the striker might fail elsewhere and therefore should continue playing in Germany. He opined that Podolski might not be able to adapt to the fast-paced English conditions therefore he must not think
of moving abroad.
The President advised the former Bayern Munich striker to stay patient and concentrate on his own form rather thinking of the club’s lack of ambitions.
On the other hand, Hoeness has urged the Koln officials to spend money to bring in quality players if they want to keep hold of their current stars.
While talking to LIGA total, the Bavarian president further elaborated:
"Lukas is a player who must have the coach behind him, one who needs an arm around the shoulder at times. That seems to work well [with him] as both [Germany coach Joachim] Low and Jupp Heynckes have done it [in the past]. I think
they should invest more [in players] around him more to him to sweeten his [desire to] stay.”
"He's not a player for abroad. I cannot imagine Lukas in Manchester, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904! Either he stays there or ... Yeah, I really don’t know where he should go [if he leaves].” He concluded.
Podolski has had an outstanding campaign thus far and is already in contention for the Golden Boot alongside Bayern Munich’s Mario Gomez and Schalke’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175. The striker has bagged 14 goals in 15 league matches in
the 2011/12 campaign thus far.
