Ulster name six World Cup players in squad – Rugby News
Belfast based Irish professional Rugby Union outfit, Ulster Rugby, has announced six players who have recently played in Rugby Union’s premier tournament, the 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC). The
club has included these players in their squad for the 2011/12 RaboDirect Pro 12 encounter against the Scarlets on Saturday, October 29.
Officials at the club have confirmed the naming of these players in the squad, in a statement released on their website on Tuesday, October 25. The six players have played for three different
countries in the 2011 RWC tournament.
The players’ names in the squad for their upcoming encounter against the Scarlets are Paddy Wallace, Tom Court, Andrew Trimble, Ruan Pienaar, Johann Muller, and Simon Danielli.
The return of the international players have strengthened Ulster and boosted their season campaign. Ulster has lost two of their last three championship games so far.
Simon Danielli represented Scotland, the duo of Ruan Pienaar and Johann Muller represented Springboks. South Africa were defending champions, but were knocked out of the tournament by the 2011
Tri Nations Champions, Wallabies.
Furthermore, the trio of Paddy Wallace, Tom Court and Andrew Trimble were part of Ireland’s 30 man squad in the 2011 RWC.
In addition to this, Ulster is still waiting on the availability of the Rory Best and Stephen Ferris. Both Best and Ferris were part of Ireland’s 2011 RWC squad are yet to fully recover from
their respective injuries.
Besides this, the trio of Jerry Cronin, Jared Payne, and Luke Marshall are not considered for the match. The trio is struggling from their respective injuries. Marshall is struggling with
his jaw, Jerry Cronin with neck while Payne is suffering from Achilles injuries.
Ulster’s match day squad for their upcoming encounter against the Scarlets consists of
