  1. Brock will be a great fighter some day and probably even a champion, but right now he is a punk, with no respect for his sport.  what was this c**p at the end of his fight where he was pretending he was fishing and reeling herring in.  then the c**p with "can you see me now", over and over. The same goes for BJ when he went over and licked the blood of sean shirk off of his glove. total classless. I just prefer the champions and the fighters like GSP who give their opponents nothing but respect after a loss or a win.

  2. I HOPE gsp can beat penn, I am not a penn fan at all. Gsp looked great last night against Fitch, but you have to hand it to fitch he got his a$$ kicked and kept going. I thought Lesnar would lose before the fight, I was happy during the fight that he was dominating but after the fight I was disappointed in Lesnar for acting the way he did and show boating..I dont want another Tito wannabe in the UFC.

  3. Yes GSP did win a bloody battle against Penn in UFC 58.

This will be a great rematch. Although Penn has improved his endurance as a lightweight. It was when he fought as welterweight that he had problems with running out of gas. So that may or may not be a factor.

As for GSP he just gets better and better every time he fights.

GSP took Penn down 4 times in their last match, but Pierre didn't do much damage when he had Penn down allowing Penn to get back to his feat. Maybe this area is where we will see Pierre improve. Although it's tough to keep Penn down let alone take him down. If Penn can avoid the take down and do serious damage with his hands. he might have a chance.

I am a fan of both of these great fighters but I'm guessing GSP will be victorious once again.

  4. i've always thought brock lesner would be solid in mma, and last night's performance didn't change my opinion.  although he's still far off from being as well rounded as he needs to be to face the top level fighters, i think if he keeps at it he can get there.

i was impressed by his ability to control herring on the ground, but i was disappointed at his lack of submission attempts, especially considering how dominant his position was for most of the fight.  but that is something that i think will improve with time and experience.

also, its still unknown if he can take a punch, so until eats a good shot, his chin will always be in question.  plus, herring didn't attempt any submission, that i can recall, so don't know if his submission defense has improved since the mir fight.

but even with all the unanswered questions, i still think he'll be a force in mma.  he's physically gifted with strngth and speed, and the rest will depends on his willingness to work and train hard.

as for the gsp fight.  only one word: wow!  gsp looked amazing, but all credit to fitch for lasting the full 5 rounds, he took some serious licks!  now i can't to see gsp vs penn.  i think that'll be an amazing fight, but i think gsp can win.

  5. GSP HAS ALREADY BEATEN PENN, and Lesnar's potential was never doubted . His ability to do well so soon was. I admit I was a little surprised but I think we all felt (or at least I did) that Lesnar had the raw tools to win in  mma he just needed to hone them. Good for Brock.

  6. yeah i actually hold lesnar in a higher regard now. he did very well and fought a tough fight, maybe he has a bright future

no surprise about st. pierre vs. fitch, st. pierre's a killer. i think if pierre and penn fight, pierre will drastically overpower him. maybe not though. penn's a top p4p fighter as well, so there's really no telling until it happens

  7. That was so great when Brock snatched the mic out of Joe Rogan's hand and yelled "CAN YOU SEE ME NOW!!!!"

UFC 87 was kinda dull, and Brock Lesnar's fight made it entertaining...

Not to mention he totally DOMINATED Heath...

and then when he rode him like a bull and threw his imaginary whip...thats what I'm talkin about....

I wasn't even interested in the GSP fight after that....but GSP did a good job at retaining his belt...

  8. GSP has already beaten Penn once.  http://www.thaplace2be.com/stpierrevspen...  Penn also lost to Matt Hughes.  Penn's gotten better - at least with his endurance.  GSP has also gotten better.  I think GSP has gotten a LOT better than Penn has relative to their improvement since their last fight.  I think it would be difficult for GSP to submit Penn so it would likely go 5 rounds.  GSP would dominate Penn much the same way he dominated Fitch.

  9. I think Lesnar's actual WRESTLING ability is tops. However, he still has a lot to learn when it comes to MMA. Did you notice that every time he had Heath's back, he never locked his legs in to keep his opponent down. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought his little "speech" after his fight seemed more WWE than UFC in nature. When he lost to Mir he seemed more humbled. But give him a win (even though it had to go to a judge's decision). and he's instantly spouting off like an ex-WWE pro-rassler! I want to see him in more fights, that's for sure, but he can throw away the WWE verbiage.

As for GSP/FITCH, it was a pretty good fight. FITCH was clocked a number of times but didn't submit, taking GSP to the distance. GSP won it without any doubt though.

And in a GSP/BJ PENN fight, I think I'd go with PENN. Granted he lost to GSP previously, but somehow I don't think that would happen the next go-round.

All-in-all, not a bad PPV card last night.
