I'm pregnant! yay..

So..um, I've had eating disorders since I was like four.I also suffer from depression and OCD, GAD and SAD.

These disorders I know can be passed on to my baby..

So, what doctor should I see first? A gyno or therapist?

Currently I'm not seeing any doctors where I just moved...so...who first?

  1. OBGYN first (since the baby is not here yet and you need to get checked out)

As far as an ED, that's not hereditary...that is just the way you deal with your depression and OCD. Depression is more genetic but you can't say that your child will have an ED...your child may just struggle with a bit of depression (don't we all?) If you feel like you need to see a therapist for an ED while pregnant, do that right after your OBGYN appt. Hopefully you will be able to control your ED for the next 9 months so that it doesn't HAVE to affect your child at all. Pregnant or not, you still deserve help for your issues.

  2. OBGYN is your first visit. You should share this concern with him too.Make sure the baby and pregnancy is going well first.

  3. why not try to see both in one day?

  4. You should definitely definitely go to a doctor first, unless you mean go to a therapist to figure out what you are going to do with the pregnancy.  In which case, I still think you should get to a doctor first. Make an appointment with a therapist after you leave the doctor, ha.

  5. u only need 2 c ur doctor and if he thinks u need 2 c anyone else he will sort this 4 u. i carried my son with depression and hes allways laughing and full of fun and i also had a lot of stress wen i was carrying him so it doesnt allways pass on . hope it all works out 4 u and try not 2 worry

  6. First and foremost go to a gyno. Tell her all about everything. Then she can reccomend a therapist to best handle this situation! GOOD LUCK!
