Umair Siddiqui, Sanchali Dasgupta excel in All India Junior Ranking Tournament – Badminton news
Mixed Doubles experts Mohd. Umair Siddiqui and Sanchali Dasgupta had a perfect start in All India Junior Ranking Tournament as they cleared first hurdle and moved into pre quarter-final round on June 26, 2013.
They were up against the compatriot duo Kashish-Dapasha Joshi and their meeting lasted for 40 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 12-21, 21-13 and 21-13. This hard fought tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Hyderabad where a huge
crowd assembled to support both teams.
Although the twosome of Umair and Sanchali took some time to be on the right track and lost the opening game, yet they showed elevated craft in the ending two games and locked the honour.
On the other hand, Kashish and Dapasha could not capitalise their first set win and crashed out of this national event in a disgraceful manner.
In the opening game, both Mixed Doubles players showed superb coordination and established an instant lead. They prevailed in few back-to-back rallies and doubled their total in no time. This flow really helped them to place a decent margin of 11 before
the interval.
After the mid-game break, they widened the gap on points table and won this crucial game with a significant lead of nine points in 21-12 score.
However, things were entirely different in the following games as Umair and Sanchali displayed unique craft on court and brought the contest to right balance. This time the talented Indian duo did not repeat previous mistakes and ruled the court all the
way to final moments.
Umair and Sanchali looked in prime touch as they finished first half of the set with a respectable lead and then swept the table with an overwhelming total of 21-13.
This timely win proved a real booster for them and they played with great precision in third set of the match. They laid foundation of their supremacy by claiming many points in the beginning and strengthened their grip by placing a convincing figure of
11.
The latter part of game was also dominated by Umair and Sanchali as they registered a winning margin of 21-13 without any real trouble.
