Umar Gul fancies Pakistan’s chances in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 – Cricket News
Pakistan’s injured fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088, gives an edge to the Green Shirts.
By defeating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 comprehensively in a warm-up match at the Oval, Pakistan have rung alarm bells for the rest of the teams in the competition.
While talking exclusively to Pakpassion, Gul, who is not able to take part in the all-important event due to a knee injury, expressed that the Green Shirts are an extremely competent unit in the limited-overs formats of the game.
The cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peshawar-c832 fancies the national team to lift the title at the mega event as they are an extremely balanced side, with Hafeez and Malik giving cushion to the team management with both bat and ball.
“Pakistan is a strong unit particularly in the limited over formats and the squad we have at the Champions Trophy is more than capable of coming back to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 with the Trophy,” said the 29-year-old fast bowler. “Our strength
is the all rounders in the squad like Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.”
However, the experienced cricketer warned the national team against complacency and feels that no team can afford to take things for granted in the shorter formats of the game as the course of a match can change rapidly.
“Limited overs cricket can be a lottery at times, a match can turn on one piece of good fortune or an error and things can change very quickly. The squad has a nice blend to it and I’m hoping that the boys perform to the best of
their ability,” he added.
The Green Shirts will play their first match of the tournament against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and South Africa, who will be up against each other tomorrow at Cardiff.
According to the cricket pundits, adjusting to the English conditions will be the biggest challenge for Pakistan as their batsmen are considered to be vulnerable against the moving ball.
