Former Test skipper, Asif Iqbal, is not happy with the Pakistan fast bowlers’ performance in the on-going http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 needs to take more responsibility, leading the Green Shirts' bowling attack.
Pakistan made their way to the last eight after beating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in the group stage.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the Super 8s, which is considered to be the tougher of the two pools. The Green Shirts will be up against the Proteas tomorrow in their first Super 8 match at Colombo.
Gul and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s World T20 strategy, but the two of them have looked off-colour in the initial two encounters at Pallekele.
While talking to Pakpassion, the former captain expressed that the speedster from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peshawar-c832 is one of the world’s best T20 bowlers and against stronger batting line-ups, the right-armer must perform better.
"Our seam bowlers, and especially Umar Gul who is one of the leading wicket takers in T20 format, can bowl better than what he has done so far, he’s been very disappointing," said Iqbal. "Let’s hope that in the Super 8s, where it matters most, they will
perform better that what they have done."
Since the ban imposed on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993, Gul is considered as Pakistan’s spearhead, although he has been extremely inconsistent over the years.
In the 45 Tests, 111 One Day Internationals and 45 T20 Internationals, the fast bowler has picked up more than 350 wickets at the game’s highest stage.
Apart from criticising the Pakistani fast bowlers, the former captain admitted that the pitches in the World T20 are heavily in favour of the batsmen.
"Let’s not forget that the wickets are exceptionally good for batting, so the bowlers are getting thrashed. Having said that, I think that the fast bowlers are either getting carried away seeing a bit of bounce in the wickets, thinking they can bounce the
batsman out," the former captain expressed.
