Young Indian pacer, Umesh Yadav, has admitted that he was a bit nervous while bowling to Australian batsmen on the opening Day of the Melbourne Test, but Sachin Tendulkar’s advice boosted his confidence.
Playing his third Test, the first against Australia, Yadav grabbed three wickets on the Boxing Day and guided his side to a decent position in the first Test of the four-match series.
The young lad dismissed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, back to the pavilion.
It was observed that the Master Blaster walked to Yadav on a number of occasions to encourage him. Yadav later explained that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 asked him to go for full length deliveries to pick up wickets.
"Even against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, at mid off or mid-on, he just boosts my confidence. He does not tell me anything particular, just asks me to bowl in my areas. He told me that in India you could get away by bowling back of length stuff," Yadav told reporters at
the press conference after first day`s play on Monday.
At the end of the first day, the Kangaroos were on 277 for the loss of six wickets. Although, Yadav claimed three scalps, he remained a bit expensive, giving away 96 runs in his 20 overs.
The third session of the day was the most terrible one for the fast bowler, as the two well settled batsmen, Ponting and debutant http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan, had their grip on him. The 24-year-old paceman himself expressed slight disappointment over conceding too many runs.
He also admitted that he had to try different things, such as short balls in order to contain Aussie batsmen, who were on fire after the lunch break.
"I took wickets but also gave away far too many runs. It`s not that I wanted to bowl short or the team has planned so. The two fielders in the deep, at fine leg and square leg, were intended to keep the scoring down more than to catch the batsmen off a pull
shot," added the right-arm seamer who is http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566.
