Here is my strange running story.

3 days ago i wanted to run 1600 m less than 7:10.00.

I went to my local track at a school and ran 4 laps in 6:30.

I thought i was the running god.

Then i realised that it wasn't a mile, it was 310m per lap so 1240m. The other day i was set to do 5 laps (1550m approximately) and i did it in 7:29.- - I was really pissed off about not being in shape.

So i went there yesterday and i felt like i would really own the track. Guess what? I scored 6:52.12. That's almost 37 seconds faster. I don't know how, but can i continue to get faster like this? Is it possible that i am naturally fit to run?

I have 25 days to reach sub-6min can i do it?

PS i am a VERY fast sprinter

  1. Everyone has something they're good at... practice hard for it and yeh you can definetly do it.

  2. As long as you keep on training you'll get better, I used to be kinda slow and did it everyday of the week, and got better just about every day. just keep doing it.

  3. yes u can do it just keep on training. i am a runner to but i do cross country not sprinting however i have noticed that the more i train the more faster i get! also if i train further distance then my actual race that helps as well

  4. No, there is nothing wrong in it. YOu are gettin faster due to ur practice. Keep practicing and u will win. Note: if u r a very fast sprinter den you must stop sprinting at the initial laps go for a sprint in the last lap.

  5. It is easy to get a lot faster in the beginning, you may continue to get better very fast for a couple more weeks. you may never see that dramatic of a cut again but you may see your time drop by 10 secs or 5 secs. That is completely normal

Don't get discouraged if you hit a wall and your times don't seem to get any better because that is normal as well. You just have to keep training to get past that wall.

If you have to be sub 6 in 25 days, you should start running 6 days a week. Don't time yourself on every run though. Go out and run 2 miles you won't be able to build over 3 miles safely in 25 days and you don't really have to run much more than that to train for the mile. Don't run hard every day either give yourself some breaks. Have fun and Good luck
