  1. Some typical gymnastics conditioning moves are the following:

for arms - pushups, handstand push ups, pull ups, tricep dips

for legs - squats, wall sits, lunges, running drills, jumps, calf raises

for stomachs - hanging leg raise, v-ups, sit-ups, crunches, hollow rocks

There are many others as well but these are a few of the simpler ones

  2. sit-ups strengthen your abs, helping to pull yourself over in back handsprings and tucks. jumping on trampolines and running are good for your legs. push-ups for your arm muscles.

  3. Every program is different but gymnastics usually spend 20-30 min stretching before and hopefully after practice.  All of practice is cardio (running, jumping, etc.) and that can last up to 2-3 hrs, several times a week.  However, events such as bars, will define the arm muscles.  If your looking for that type of physique, you will have to lift FREE weights, and mix in cardio as well.  Do not use those weight machines because you will not get max results.   I suggest adding some yoga into your program because stretching is just as important as lifting and cardio. good luck!

  4. Gymnasts like you see in the Olympics and gymnasts that train for Nationals and things like that are in the gym doing their routines and stretches for like 6 hours a day. That's how they look so amazing.. They spend lots of time running, stretching and doing different "moves" to tone their arms, legs, etc.
